Informations about
ANTARIS small wind turbines

The ANTARIS wind turbine is a wind energy system that is ideally suited to inland sites. It is designed specifically for feeding power into the grid, charging batteries (24 V / 48 V etc.) and for supporting heating systems.

Thanks to its extremely robust and well thought-out design the ANTARIS wind turbine system is also suitable for stormy regions, with different optional repeller diameters (2.30 – 6.50 m).

The hand-laminated repeller blades benefit from a computer-designed aerodynamic profile. Needless to say, each blade is statically and dynamically balanced, carries an identification number and comes with relevant documentation.

The drive system of the ANTARIS small wind turbine system follows a simple logic: Fewer rotating components reduce the mechanical load and increase the technical operating life. The maintenance and servicing is reduced (including less wearing parts, no gearbox oil change) and the operating costs drop.  The rotor hub and permanent magnet generator are directly connected together as a fixed unit without gears. The rotor unit is mounted on a rotating axis with a high-strength material. In comparison with conventional gearing systems with numerous bearings in the moving drive train the ANTARIS operates with two relatively slow running rolling-contact bearings.

The same applies for the tilting unit, which is only activated by the wind and thus operates absolutely free of wear. For safety the ANTARIS has two high-quality stainless steel mufflers installed, which protect the corresponding end stops. The steels used are all provided with a test certificate, which documents the grade of the steel. The welding joints are only carried out by certified welders. After the blanks have been manufactured all steel parts are galvanised under high temperature. This galvanising process has significant advantages for corrosion protection compared to conventional (hot-dip galvanisation) galvanisation processes. With the high-temperature galvanisation we offer you the most effective method for protecting all parts against corrosion that are responsible for safety and operation under taxing demands of the elemental weather conditions.

The ANTARIS small wind turbine system is manufactured to the highest standards to achieve a technical operating life of 20 years of more.

As we are always striving for excellence, we carry out continuous further development so that we can keep setting new benchmarks in future in the area of small wind turbine systems.

Fit for the future with
ANTARIS small wind turbines

Uncomplicated from the aspect of configuration, importance has been attached to ensuring that these turbines can be quickly assembled and installed by hand. As a result of its robust design, the ANTARIS works with extreme efficiency and not only comes at a highly attractive price in its basic version. Particular attention must be drawn to its excellent start-up behaviour (at wind speeds as low as 2.2 m/s) and very quiet operation. This means the system can also be installed in residential areas.

Grid-connected operation requires the Smart!wind and Power One inverters (2.5 kW – 10. 0 kW) with characteristics matched to the ANTARIS and local wind conditions. Alternatively, in less windy areas, grid-connected operation is also possible with a special Power Curve from the Inverter. Very important is the adjustment between the Alternator and the Windinverter.
The inverters carry an appropriate declaration of conformity and are approved for grid-connected operation – the ENS (electronic grid guard system) is already integrated!
Inverter communication takes place through USB/RS 232 interfaces etc.
When the ANTARIS is used in heating applications, a control cabinet with control electronics provides optimum control of the wind characteristic in conjunction with a 6000-watt heating element.
The azimuth bearing is configured as a double-support plain bearing equipped with lubrication nipples for re-greasing. The supporting element with generator and wind vane jib is fully galvanised (see picture gallery).

As power is conducted directly to the power consumer, a flexible cable is required inside the mast.
Storm protection: On reaching maximum power output, the ANTARIS goes into the helicopter-type rotor-blade protection position (see picture gallery), reducing blade area exposed to wind. In addition, the control electronics in the control cabinet monitor system voltage and slow the wind energy system down by means of braking resistances (6.0 – 12.0 kW) when maximum voltage is attained.
This option has clear advantages over generator short-circuit as the repeller’s rotating movement is not actually interrupted. This ultimately improves the wind energy system’s overall level of efficiency.

By way of option, the ANTARIS is also available with slip rings for collecting electrical power and no-maintenance azimuth bearings with double ball bearing!
Needless to say, you can also construct all components yourself (with our support) – this helps to cut costs!
